Since 1983, Turning Point Counseling has helped people face painful personal and relationship challenges with experienced, practical care.

Our therapists use evidence-based counseling and can integrate prayer, Scripture, and Biblical perspective when clients want faith included in the work. People of every belief are treated with compassion and respect.

Founded by two friends with a shared calling

Dr. Peter Robbins and Dr. Kevin Downing began as college friends and co-youth pastors, then built TPC to help restore marriages, strengthen families, and serve people facing painful turning points.

Our story

Four decades of counseling, teaching & church partnership

TPC's history includes long-term counseling service, radio teaching, and practical care for marriages, families, individuals, and churches across Southern California.

1983

TPC begins

Dr. Peter Robbins and Dr. Kevin Downing founded Turning Point Counseling after graduate training at Fuller and early ministry work as youth pastors.

1990s

Radio ministry expands

TPC became known across Southern California through Journey of the Heart on KKLA 99.5 FM.

2011

Marriage education continues

The founders returned to radio to teach about conflict patterns in marriage and practical relationship repair.

Care across communities

TPC serves people through a broader therapist team, local counseling locations, and church partnerships.
